Software engineer by trade. Jazz, photography, travel, wine and animals.

San Francisco Bay Area

I build and run cloud infrastructure at scale — distributed systems, the kind of plumbing that has to work at 3 AM. Over the past twenty-five years I've done this across America, Europe, and Asia for companies ranging from early-stage to large enterprise.

Outside of work I listen to jazz, make pictures and travel when I can.

Currently doing site reliability engineering at Cloudera, building scalable infrastructure on Kubernetes for the Cloudera data platform. Previously at Mux, Optimizely, Reltio, and Oracle.

I produce under the name MediumCoffee — mostly ambient, electronic, and jazz-influenced. The set below is from the last couple of years.

I start in the middle of a sentence and move both directions at once.

Photography is something I keep coming back to, mostly in black and white. A handful of frames below — including one from the Venice Biennale.
